BURNABY WEEKEND EVENTS

Haunting Hallows Workshop

for students currently in grade 1-8*

BOO! Did I scare you? Come join us at Science AL!VE for a haunted experience of science and scares! Learn all about different monsters that roam the streets on Halloween, from witches to vampires. These workshops will be focusing on the science revolving around these frightening creatures. What makes a witches brew or how do vampires fly? Or if you are interested on the coding side, come explore the dark depths of the crypt as you venture through coding quests. Come explore these questions on this hair-raising weekend workshop.

We encourage you to come dress up with the Science AL!VE team for sweet (trick or) treat on your way out.

Grade 1/2: Victorian Vicounts

Flying into the night to investigate our vampire companions we must first learn about the basics! Delving into the world of blood and flight to better understand our bat like creatures.

Grade 3/4: Witching Hour

“Double, double toil and trouble!” …. Brewing up a day of potions and all things chemistry. Casting off into our magical world of witches and warlocks combining this knowledge to become their very own.

Grade 5/6/7/8: Crypt Crawling Coders

Calling all adventurers! Join the guild for a day full of coding in Python. In the first half of our training lessons we will learn the basics of python and logic to train our team on how to complete Quests to traverse the dark depths of the creepy crypt. After this, combat training will begin as we introduce loops and functions to be able to fight in the dark depths.
