Girls and Young Women

Our program inspires girls and young women to fulfill their unique and important role in STEM. These all-girl programs are led by instructors who serve as inspiring role models, mentors and allies breaking down long-standing stereotypes about women in STEM. They encourage girls and young women to explore areas of STEM, like science and technology, where we want more girls and young women to feel empowered.

As part of our efforts to create inclusive, bias-free learning environments that advance gender equity, our Girls and Young Women Programs welcome gender-diverse youth, including but not limited to cis girls, trans girls, non-binary youth, gender non-conforming youth and genderqueer youth, Two-Spirit youth.

GO ENG GIRL 2025: BECOME A CLIMATE CITIZEN EXPLORING ELECTRONICS AND AI

In partnership with the Ontario Network for Women in Engineering (ONWIE), the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Simon Fraser University and SFU’s Women in Engineering, we invite *girls (grades 7 – 10) to an engaging hands-on program that combines electronics and artificial intelligence. Please join us on November 15th from 10:00am - 2:30pm for this FREE event where participants will begin by building a Water Level Indicator, gaining practical experience with circuits using LEDs, buzzers, and transistors. Building on this foundation, the program will transition into the AI Climate Citizen Activity, where participants will learn how AI uses data, explore real climate datasets, and roleplay as entrepreneurs to design an AI-powered climate app addressing environmental challenges. Limited space is available so sign up today! No prior experience with engineering or coding required!

*As part of our efforts to create inclusive, bias-free learning environments that advance gender equity, our Girls and Young Women Programs welcome gender-diverse youth, including but not limited to cis girls, trans girls, non-binary youth, gender non-conforming youth, Two-Spirit youth.
