1 workshop: $195/workshop
3 workshops (in one day): $175/workshop
6+ workshops: $155/workshop
Please note: As of this year, to offset vehicle rentals and travel time, a one-way travel fee will apply to all schools outside of Burnaby School District which will range from $20—$40 dependant on their distance from SFU Burnaby Campus. A two-way travel may apply if booking less than 3 workshops per day. We recognize that there may be financial constraints for schools at this time, should you still want to request workshops, please feel free to reach out to our Classroom Workshops Lead at saadmin2@sfu.ca to discuss options.
KINDERGARTEN - FANTASTIC FORENSICS
Do you wonder about how airplanes soar in the sky? Are you curious about what makes things start, stop, and spin? Join us for an exciting workshop on the science of movement! Physics meets fun as we explore the mysteries behind how we move and explore the principles of flight.
GRADE 1 - BEAUTIFUL BRITISH COLUMBIA
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it's spawning salmon! Join us while we explore the natural wonders of British Columbia. In this workshop, we will learn about local plants and animals so that we can identify the fauna that make up beautiful BC. Natural is calling, are you ready to answer?
grade 2 - wonders of water
Make a big splash as you explore the exciting world of water! In this workshop, you will follow the journey of a raindrop, from sky to stream and beyond. You will also learn about the remarkable life cycle of salmon in these waters and understand the various environmental impacts affecting our water systems.
GRADE 3 - ENGAGING ENERGY
Get ready for an exhilarating adventure on atoms and energy! This positively exciting workshop introduces students to the concept and various types of energy and how molecules move. How is energy produced and transferred? What types of energy do we use in our daily lives? Join us as we explore the answers to these questions.
GRADE 4 - GLOWING GALAXY
To infinity and beyond! Join us on an out-of-this-world adventure to explore the motion, structure, and mysteries of our incredible solar system and the transfer of energy. May the force be with you as we battle our way to answers!
grade 5 - amazing ANATOMY
You will be head-over-heels for this fascinating workshop on human anatomy and physiology! Join us as we collaborate with our peers to learn about the various organs that make each of us unique and extraordinary. You will leave with a deep appreciation for everything our body does even for simple tasks!
GRADE 6 - CAPTIVATING CHEMISTRY
Ready for your first day of potions class? We’ll be exploring the science of mixtures, reactions, and everything chemistry in this bewitching workshop! Learn how to create your own chemical reactions, identify unknown mixtures, and understand the principles behind the Periodic Table.
GRADE 7 - CLIMATE CRISIS CONQUERORS
Have you ever thought about your carbon footprint? Or what happens to plastic after you throw it away or recycle it? Well, wonder no more! This workshop will introduce students to the topic of climate change, and allow them to learn about the many global issues that arise from human action and excessive greenhouse gas emissions. However, don’t let the doom and gloom scare you since we’ll be thinking of innovative ways to save the planet before it’s too late!
