We’re celebrating Computer Security Day this year by bringing you cybersecurity-related coding workshops and a Q&A session with a Master of Cybersecurity student!
Sessions are open to students in Grades 8-12.
Saturday, November 28:
From 9:30AM to 11:30AM, join us for our basic Intro to Python workshop (you'll need to know the basics before you can join us for the next two workshops).
From 12PM to 2PM, learn all about why there are so many rules to picking a password in our Password Cracker workshop.
From 2:30PM to 4:30PM, finish the day with our Encryption/Decryption workshop and learn how to scramble and unscramble text.
Note: these workshops are from our Hour++ of Code program. If you previously attended a workshop with the same description, the materials presented will be the same.
Monday, November 30 (actual Computer Security Day):
From 5PM to 6PM, hear from Alyssa (a Science AL!VE instructor and current SFU Master of Cybersecurity student) to learn all about her experience in computing science and cybersecurity. You'll also be able to ask her any burning questions you might have!
Students that attend at least 2/4 sessions will receive a certificate!
